The 7th Annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is Friday, June 15, 2012 and organizations and individuals are encouraged to raise awareness about elder abuse by wearing purple and hosting elder abuse awareness activities. The International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) established WEAAD to raise awareness about elder abuse across the world and encourage collaboration among agencies, organizations and communities to prevent elder abuse. To help your organization raise awareness about elder abuse the INPEA created a free, download the Elder Abuse Awareness Community Guide Tool Kit and other resources.
The Ohio Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman plans to recognize WEAAD by hosting a two-part Facebook chat with Kathy Greenlee, Administrator of the Administration for Community Living and Assistant Secretary for Aging at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
